The term for obtaining citizenship in Belgium through naturalization is the shortest among the EU countries and is three years. For certain categories of persons - refugees, stateless persons and spouses of Belgian citizens, the legislative level provides for a reduction in this period.
Business in Belgium.
This type of Belgian citizenship implies residence in the state for at least 7 years. A prerequisite for the applicant is the creation of an enterprise in the form of a concern, the presence of a minimum start-up capital of 12,500 euros and an annual income of 35,000 euros.
Marriage to a Belgian citizen
Obtaining Belgian citizenship through marriage implies cohabitation with a Belgian partner from six months in Belgium and up to three years of residence abroad. Marriage outside of Belgium can be equated to living together in Belgium if the foreigner proves that there is a true relationship between spouses/partners and Belgium, namely frequent travel, company registration, property ownership and other evidence.
