For our clients, we have collected information on customs clearance and duties when importing a car into the European Union from different countries. This information is constantly updated.

Customs clearance of a car in the EU.

In Europe, there are two options: customs clearance of car imports under a preferential procedure and regular customs clearance.

Taxes for customs clearance of cars in each EU country do not differ much:

  1. 0% duty for EU citizens, as well as if the car is imported from an EU country;
  2. the duty is 10% for other countries on passenger cars and 22% on trucks, and the data is calculated from the sum of the declared price of the car and transportation costs.
  3. EXCISE tax depends on the EU country and customs regulations.

VAT is 19% and depends on the EU country:

  1. for new cars up to six months old from the date of first registration or with a mileage of less than six thousand km;
  2. for used cars purchased in a non-EU country;
  3. for any car purchased outside the EU by a legal entity;
  4. VAT is 0% on a used car purchased by an EU resident and acquired in an EU country;
  5. the car disposal tax is 125 euros for cars over 10 years old.

Documents required for customs clearance:

  • confirmation of registration no older than 3 months;
  • scan is right on both sides;
  • scan of the residence permit on both sides;
  • scan of the first page of the passport;
  • scans of technical passports - large and small;
  • a page with CO2 emissions from the car’s maintenance book or data on CO2 from the Internet or a car dealership;
  • client’s phone number;
  • E-mail address;
  • photo of the car /Front/Rear/Diagonally on all sides/Arches with wheels/Die with water. Doors/All duplicate numbers on the body/Photo from the driver's seat to the instrument panel/photo from the rear seat to the gearbox and panel/photo of the roof, if there is a sunroof.
