Student Residence Permit

A student "residence permit" is issued in connection with the education of foreign citizens on the basis of a document of admission to a European university. A student residence permit allows legal residence in the country, provided that the student is enrolled in a course of study. This means that every 6 or 12 months, depending on the university and country of study, the student must renew their residence permit and provide it to the immigration service as proof of successfully passing the current semester and being promoted to the next year. The residence permit can be renewed as many times as necessary, depending on the number of semesters at a particular educational institution. Upon completion of their studies, the student can remain in the country if they find employment or an internship at a local company in their field of study.

Documents required for a student residence permit:

• A passport valid for at least six months;
• Application form;
• Proof of residence registration;
• Foreigner's registration number;
• Opening a bank account;
• Passport-style photos;
• Health insurance policy with minimum coverage of 30,000 euros;
• Official letter from the university with a stamp;
• Receipt for tuition payment;
• Motivation letter stating the purpose of study;
• Rental agreement for a room or apartment;
• Proof of financial means, e.g. a bank statement showing at least 7,700 euros;
• Confirmation of intention to leave the country after studies (e.g. proof of property ownership, etc.);
• Criminal record certificate with an apostille no older than 3 months.
